Welcome to our first tournament for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Games, organised by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp.
The goal of this tournament is a bit of a low-stakes, casual and relaxed event where you get the chance to meet new people and have some fun games and drinks to chat around.
Ample parking outside the clubhouse!
In this tournament, we will be using armies of 500 points, made from officially published armies, and any FAQ's in effect, as they are released by Games Workshop up to the 30th of october 2025!!!
Following additional army selection restrictions apply:
* Maximum of 1 Hero of Legend can be included in your force
* Maximum of 3 Warbands can be taken
All battles, due to the smaller points size, will be played on area's of 48' square, with ample terrain!
The tournament will consist of 3 rounds, each played with a predetermined scenario for the MAIN rulebook (MRB 2024), and following the timetable as below:
Doors open at 9h30
Registration: 9h45 - 10h00
Round 1: 10h00 - 12h30 - Scenario: Domination (MRB 2024 page 162) - You can bring your own objective markers, but there will be tokens present if needed.
Lunch break: 12h30 - 13h00
Round 2: 13h00 - 15h30 - Scenario: Fog of War (MRB 2024 page 167)
Round 3: 15h45 - 18h15 - To the Death! (MRB 2024 page 163)
Award Ceremony: 18h30
This timetable allows for ample and relaxed playtime, and some casual bantering in between games. It also takes into account that the TO can get a game in, and still have time to do the points maths in between rounds. In case everything goes smoothly, this schedule might speed up a little once all results are in and next round pairings have been made. From previous tournaments in other formats, we have learned that it rarely takes the full "time slot" to get all the rounds finished without any pressure.
The pairings for the first round will be "guided", in order to prevent people playing opponents from their local gaming group as an opener. Subsequent pairings will be based on your standings as per normal tournament play.
Points are awarded by 3 points for a win, 1 point in case of a draw and 0 points for the unfortunate case of a loss.
The scored victory points in the scenario's are used to determine placings in case of a tie, in the following sequence: 1. Scored points by your force, 2. Difference in scored points for and against, 3. Let Arda decide (aka, a coinflip).
Practicalities:
Registration is confirmed the moment of entering, I can arrange a table or two more if needed. Entry fee payment by Payconiq or cash the day of the event itself.
Entry fee for the event is 10 euro, TSA clubmembers pay 5 euro if having a valid membership card for 2025.
However, as the payment is used to estimate the price support goodies, pre-payment is appreciated. This can be done on the account number BE12 9790 6856 8392, on the name of Tom Murrath. Please mention Fog in the Ekeren-downs in the message bar.
Please note as the price support is purchased from the entry fees, people that do not show up without warning a day or two in advance are not eligeble for a refund unless it is for urgent matters.
Drinks available at the venue, no own drinks allowed. Food can be ordered at your own leisure.
There will be price support for the Winner, and the Best Painted Army which will be voted by non-participating anonymous judges. There will be an additional price raffled amongst all participants (bar the winner and the best painted), as I don't like to reward sportmanship. I prefer everyone brings his best behaviour, and if not a bouncer with axe and a shovel to bury the body is present.
A small gift will also be handed out to all joining players.
Side events (aka, there will be other players present in the clubhouse for a TSA battleday) full of eye candy will include The Old World and other fantasy games, as there is a Fantasy Battleday that day in the clubhouse.
