TEAM COMPOSITION
A Team consists of mandatory playing members (5) and optional non-playing members (1-2)

Mandatory : 5 active players
Optional: 1 team’s Coach, 1 non-playing team’s captain

The Team must have a nominated Captain to represent them with the Letz Play Organizers and other captains (they can be an active player or non-playing member).

At the tournament, the Captain is ultimately responsible for the conduct of their team, will perform their team’s pairings each round and is responsible for submitting match results. It is also the Captain’s responsibility to check all tables for any discrepancies in terrain density or placement before the start of the round, and for organising their teams to check the final submitted rosters prior to the event.

ACTIVE PLAYERS
Active Players are the team members playing the matches in each round of the event.
Once players are at their tables at the start of any given round, players are not permitted to communicate with their fellow team members, nor share information on matches or
strategy by means of cellphones or other communication devices.
Once per round each player is able to call a time-out, during which they are permitted to speak with their team’s coach. Please note that ONLY an active player may call for a time-out.

COACHES
A Coach may assist the Team and Captain in various ways throughout the Event, as well as during the rounds.

A Coach or non-playing captain IS PERMITTED to:
● Do/assist with the Pairings
● Organize and submit Team Results
● Ask questions to their players about how the game is going
● Tell their player how their team is doing and if they require a win/draw/loss from this game
● Manage rules issues and call for referee assistance
● Engage in discussions with their players during a time-out.
If they perceive a situation where there is a non-optional rule or trigger missed, they may call for the game to be paused (so he can pause, in consultation with the opposing
captain, the chess clock), and retrieve a judge to rectify the situation.

A Coach or non-playing captain IS NOT PERMITTED to:
● Give Tactical advice (they may not tell their player ‘how’ to get that win/draw/loss) or interject in any way regarding in-game situations. This includes reminding a player about forgetting rules or strategies.
● Call time-outs themselves.

ARMY COMPOSITION
LIST BUILDING
● Lists may have a maximum value of 2,000 Points using the guidelines provided in the Pitched Battle section within the actual General’s Handbook 2023-24.
● Only Warscrolls with valid Pitched Battle Profiles may be used at the tournament. This includes Forge World models that have a valid Pitched Battle Profile. Note that Allegiance Abilities can and should be used. Compendium warscrolls are also allowed if they have a Pitched Battle profile. Warscroll Battalions are not allowed to be played (as of AoS 3.0)
● Each Faction Allegiance can only be used once per team, and Grand Alliance allegiances (ie, Grand Alliance: Death) are considered their own separate allegiances.
● There are no restrictions on army composition between the Grand Alliances. Teams may include allegiances from as many or as few Grand Alliances as they desire.
● Warscroll duplication between lists is not allowed. So if a unit’s warscroll is used in one army, it cannot under any circumstance be duplicated in another army of that team.
● Artifacts, Command Traits, Spells, Prayers and Mount Traits cannot be duplicated between lists (ex: No more than one Arcane Tome).
● Grand Strategies cannot be taken more than twice in the same team
● Captains make sure their teams army lists are submitted to the Organizers (martin.senkar@gmail.com ) by 23:59 CET on November 24th, 2023. Lists must be sent for the whole team in one PDF document. The name of the submitted document has to be the same as the name of your team.
● The mandatory list format for the tournament will be that of Warscroll Builder’s PDF output.
Editing the text of the warscroll builder output is allowed but ONLY for the sake of meeting the minimums for list format requirements or cleaning up formatting issues for the sake of clarity.

The following is required (if applicable) on each list submitted:
○ Player name
○ Allegiance (ex. Stormcast Eternals)
○ Sub-Allegiance (ex. Hammers of Sigmar)
○ Battlefield role headers ( ex. Leader, Battleline, etc.)
○ Model count per unit (ex. 5x Liberators)
○ Total points cost per unit
○ General
○ Command Trait
○ Artefacts
○ Triumphs
○ Grand Strategy
○ Battalions used
○ Reinforcement points indicated on units that are utilizing
them
○ Unique Enhancements
○ Additional Enhancement picked with Magnificent
○ Spells chosen from book lores (warscroll spells not required)
○ Prayers chosen from book lores (warscroll prayers not required)
○ Wargear selection and count (not required if there is only one option) (ex. Liberators: 1x Grandhammer 4x warhammers)
○ Allies (points/400 and marked as allies next to unit entry)
○ List points total/2000
○ Units that are part of a battalion must be specified in army lists

PAIRING SYSTEM
Step 1 - “The opening” (first two matchups)
1. Both Team Captains select one army from their Team to put forward to play on table 1 and place the card for this army face down;
2. Once both Teams have selected an army, turn the cards face up to reveal which armies are chosen.
3. Both Team Captains now select two armies from the remaining four to face the opposing army revealed in the Step 1.2. The armies put forward by each Team are kept secret and revealed at the same time;
4. Each Team Captain selects one of the two opposing armies revealed in Step 1.3 to play against the friendly army that they have revealed in Step 1.2. The other army card is taken back into its own Team Captain’s hand, and each Team Captain has 3 army cards remaining.

Step 2 - “The Showdown” (matchups 3, 4 and 5)
1. Repeat Step 1.1 and 1.2;
2. Repeat Step 1.3: both Team Captains select two armies to play against the army revealed by the opposing Team in Step 2.1. This choice should be fairly easy, because both Team Captains should have only two cards remaining in their hands;
3. Each Team Captain selects one of the two opposing armies revealed in Step 2.2 to play against the army that they have revealed in Step 2.1. This will determine the pairings for table 3 and 4 for the round. The remaining army from each team will play against each other on table 5. The choice of army is kept secret until both Team Captains have made their choice.

This step will determine the last three pairings for the round, and your round is completely set up.

The tables on which each match will take place are then determined randomly.
Missions and scoring
The most recent versions of the official Matched Play Battleplans will be used, taken from the GHB 2023-24. Two different Battleplans will be used in each of the 5 rounds of the event, with three matches using one Battleplan and two matches using the other one.

BATTLEPLANS

Round 1
Pairing 1 and 2 : Lines of Communication
Pairing 3,4 and 5 : Nexus Collapse

Round 2
Pairing 1 and 2 : No Reward Without Risk
Pairing 3,4 and 5: Limited Resources

Round 3
Pairing 1 and 2 : Spring the Trap
Pairing 3,4 and 5: Power Flux

Round 4
Pairing 1 and 2 : The Icefields
Pairing 3,4 and 5: Fountains of Frost

Round 5
Pairing 1 and 2: Geomantic Pulse
Pairing 3,4 and 5 : Every Step is Forward

SCORING
The score of each match will be based on 20 points to be divided between the two players according to the game point differential of the two players as follows:

VP difference BP result
0 10-10
1 - 2 11-9
3 - 4 12-8
5 - 6 13-7
7 - 8 14-6
9 - 10 15-5
11 - 12 16-4
13 - 14 17-3
15 - 16 18-2
17 – 18 19-1
19+ 20-0

Then the score of all team members will be added up.

A team may score a maximum of 75 Battle Points per round and a minimum of 25. In case of draw, uncapped Battle Points will be used. If the draw persists, Total Victory Points will be used as a 2nd tie-breaker.

TERRAIN
The tournament tables will contain 6-8 terrain pieces with the official mystical terrain rules from GHB 2023-24. These terrain pieces will be placed by organizers. Every table will have a terrain scheme attached for every battleplan played during the tournament.
However organizers give a choice to not apply mystical terrain rules under a condition that both players agree on it before the game starts.

In addition every terrain piece placed by organisers is considered as IMPASSABLE:

IMPASSABLE - models cannot pass over or finish any type movement (normal move, pile in, retreat, charge,..) on the terrain with an exception of models that can fly. These models can pass over terrain, but can’t finish any type of movement partially or wholly within the terrain.

This rule is applied to simplify the movement and impact of terrain on the game.

Players are allowed to move terrain pieces on the battlefield only before the game starts and only by a minimum distance to follow the rules on distance to objectives or table edges.

Models, Painting and Representation
All models should be fully painted and based, WYSIWYG. All model manufacturers are welcome as well as hand-made and scratch-build, as long as it proves to be a decent effort, accurately represents what it is supposed to be without causing confusion, is on the right base, is painted and based, and is appropriate for gameplay.

Top three best teams will be rewarded by organizers. In addition, a painting contest for the best painted armies will take place during the tournament. Organisers will choose nominees to be presented to all players to vote for the top painted army of Letzplay team 2023.

Fair-Play
Of course good mood and fair play are essential during the event. We count on the players to behave in a pleasant way all weekend long.
Should it not be the case, Referees have the right to inflict penalties for cheating, slowplaying, etc.. at the discretion of the organization.

Chess clocks
Chess clocks are optional. At the beginning of every game players should agree whether they want to use a chess clock or not. A chess clock is mandatory if at least one of the two players wants to use it.

Dice
All dice used at the event must be easily legible from across the table. GW faction dice are often not legible enough to be used however with your opponents consent they can be used providing both players can read them easily.
It is recommended that all of a player's dice with symbols only have symbols on either the 1 or 6 facing and not both.
