General rules
All rules are taken from the “Middle-earth Tabletop Strategy Game Rulebook” by Games Workshop and the following books:
- Armies from the Lord of the Rings
- Armies from the Hobbit
- Gondor at War
- Scouring of the Shire
- War in Rohan
- Quest of the Ringbearer
- War in the North
(- further expansion books published until then)
- new Erratas valid until then
In case of discrepancies between the German and the English rulebook, the English rule text is considered to be of higher authority than the German or French one.
Newly published errata or rulebooks published by 30.11.2024 will be applied. Errata published later will not be taken into account, so that every player has the chance to test their lists with the current rules.
Decisions by the organization on currently “controversial” rules issues
There are always certain uncertainties that can arise because not every rule has been clearly formulated. That's why I'm providing a few such situations here and communicating transparently at an early stage how I will interpret these rules and make decisions as TO within the tournament.
Special rules and procedure
The pairings will be determined by the tournament organizers using the “Swiss system”.
The decisions of the referees are binding and must be accepted unless the player can prove otherwise using the rule books. However, the burden of proof is always on the player!
The boards (48 x 48 inches) are designed by the tournament organizers and may not be altered by the players. The board to be played on will be assigned to the players by the tournament management before the game. The tournament organizers will ensure that the boards are similar in design and that the players play on different boards if possible.
The organizers will provide a jumper if the number of participants is uneven.
The time specified for the scenario must be adhered to. The tournament organizer will announce the last round before the time runs out, otherwise the round in which the time runs out will be played to the end. All measurements are in inches.
In no scenario are models allowed to pick up weapons or other equipment from killed models. Standards may be handed over as described in the rulebook.
The passenger rule does not apply in the tournament (with the exception of Dernhelm with Merry or Treebeard with the two hobbits).
If someone deploys Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, the following rule applies: If all of the player's other models except Tom and Goldberry are destroyed, Tom and Goldberry retreat to the old forest and the army is considered extinguished.
Army composition
When assembling your army, you must observe all the restrictions set out in the ally matrix in the rulebook.
The armies consist of 550 points. Each player takes one army.
The planning of the army is subject to the restrictions in the rulebook.
Proxies are not allowed in the tournament, but may be used after consultation with the tournament organizers. Hero models that are intended to represent heroes with a different profile (Legolas Greenleaf as Legolas, Prince of the Bleak Forest) are not considered proxies and are therefore permitted.
The Catapult Troll may be played with an 80mm base.
The Khandian Dragon may be played on a 40mm base.
Mandatory painting and base design
At this tournament, all miniatures must be painted (at least basic colors), otherwise the figures are not permitted. Likewise, each miniature must be on a painted base; bases left black or painted in a single color do not count! A transparent base is accepted.
Markers
Each participant is required to bring 3 markers.

Army list submission
The tournament management reserves the right to reject army lists.
Before the tournament, the army list must be sent to the tournament management for checking. The lists must contain all models of the army with their point value including the “purchased” equipment used.
Each player receives 1 tournament point for submitting a correct list on time.
The army lists must be sent to the tournament management by e-mail fsuter[at]gmail.com by 07.12.2024, 23:59 at the latest.
During the tournament, the referees will check the armies and verify that the armies match the lists. If there are any ambiguities with the army list or the army used (intentional or not), this will be corrected by the referee as soon as it is noticed. Furthermore, points will be deducted from the overall score. If the error only becomes apparent during the course of the tournament, the games played so far may be corrected retroactively.
The definitive registration for the tournament is only valid once the army list has been submitted.
The army specified in T3 does not have to correspond to the real list, it is up to the player what he chooses there.
Before each game round, the player's own army, including the leader, must be presented to the opponent with the aid of the army sheet.
