Playing time:
The maximum playing time is 2,5 hours; this includes the determination and reporting of the result to the official scorer!
A game should last at least 7 turns for attacker and defender*. After 2 hours and 15 minutes, players should end their current turn, the defender having the last player turn. Victory is checked after each player turn as it is stated on page 62.
*The limited playing time and the expected number of turns might contradict. Since the tournament will include a high proportion of inexperienced players, the first condition will top the second AND under normal circumstances, players will not be penalized for not completing enough turns. IF on the other hand, a player is found guilty of deliberate slow play, penalties could be possible. Please try to avoid these situations, but feel free to call an umpire AT GAME TIME if you think the playing tempo is too slow.

Scoring:
The Scoring is different to the usual ELO-System!
For every game, 100 points are awarded.
The calculation method is the following:
40 points + 10 points (if not defeated) + 10 point (if opponent defeated)
- (own losses / own army strength)*40
+(opponents losses / opponents army strength)*40

*The losses can never exceed the army strength
*All results will be rounded to the next full value.
*(Following the formula) Mutual destruction is a 50 / 50 result
*The minimum points for a win is 60+, the maximum points for a draw is 90-

The winner will be the player with the most points, in case of ties, a number of tie breakers will be used, but they are not completely specified at this time. (If the players played a game during the tournament, the result will be the first in any event …)

Armylists:
Before a game starts, the players only exchange the list number and the year of their army. (If a list is named „Ting or Tang“ etc., the selection should be also mentioned.)
This method adds an element of uncertainty to the games but runs a risk: A player could of course study all the armies of the opponents to be prepared for later games. This can’t be avoided by a rule except that all players are asked to just not do it!

General Conduct:
It should be unnecessary to point out that good sportsmanship is expected from all players!
Since the umpires will be playing in the tournament as well, please call them only if you fail to find the relevant rule in the book or the FAQs. However if you do so, the umpires ruling is final, even if he turns out to be wrong later. Questions of „being in our out“ of distances etc. should be decided by a die roll. The eyes of the umpires are not better in general!
Players should use die cups, a die that is not located completely flat on the table must be rerolled. No player can be forced to use certain dice, but it is allowed to use the opponents dice if they look „better“.
