40K World Singles Championship - Informations et règlement

Rulespack version 1.0

1/ Event Description

This event aims to become the 40k world cup.

We await the best players from all countries, so this tournament will be accessible only on invitation. To receive an invitation you will need to be sponsored by one current or former ETC captain. This is only a pre-condition, the org team retain the ultimate right to entry.

The event aims to be organised on a yearly basis, travelling like ETC if possible.
The invitation system is also here to promote 40k international competitive gaming in a similar fashion than ETC has done, but with more selection to entry.

As we aim to deliver a unique event to the attendee, we will also demand more from them than the usual national GT. For starters, games will begin on friday afternoon and end on sunday late in the afternoon, so we expect players to accomodate their agenda to this. We want games to be hard but fair and fun. Put it simply, if your behavior during the event does not fit those ethics, you stand a good chance never to be invited again.

In order to reward the best performing players at the event, we will offer tickets as well as plane tickets to the top player(s) to attend the 2014 Nova Open in Washington USA (august 28th-31st). The amount of tickets offered will depend on actual attendance because of the important cost of the prize. Preliminary budget indicates that if we're more than 50 attendee, one player will go, if we reach 70 attendee, we will send two. To clarify, we will NOT provide cash to the winners, we will pay for their tickets, transport and if budget permits hotel as well. We're here to promote a way of practicing the hobby, not playing for cash.

2/ How to attend

Here are the conditions to secure an entry to our tournament :
a/ pre-register with all details to the event t3 site : http://www.tabletoptournaments.net/t3_tournament.php?tid=10865
b/ get sponsorship from a standing or past ETC captain
c/ receive an invitation to attend by chtiofonce (I'll most likely use the T3 emailing feature, watch the email you have used to get in here) - this invitation will specify a deadline for you to complete the other steps and if you don't the invitation will expire and the spot reserved for you might be offered to someone else. Remember we cannot extend the venue capacity beyond 80 players.
d/ fill in a registration form (which will help verify your sponsor and validate your army choice under the specific roster limitations explained below)
e/ send a paypal payment to hellbrandt_grimm2003@yahoo.fr, 55euros must remain once paypal charges applied.
f/ once all of the above is validated, your status on the t3 event site will move to "paid"
e/ you can still lose your spot if you don't send your army list before Saturday February 2014 March 8 at midnight CET (when it is received, your status on the t3 site will show this).

3/ Logistics

Games will start on Friday 7th march 2014 at 5pm and awards will complete at 9pm on Sunday 9th march 2014. We expect any and all attendee to be there for the whole duration of the event. A detailled planning will be published later.

As this is the first edition, we will start small in terms of venue. We're using a very convenient and not too expensive hall outside of Caen. The adress is : Salle des 3 Ormes Rue Pierre de Coubertin 14790 Verson.

We recommend two hotels :
- ibis budget Caen Porte de Bretagne (ex ETAP HOTEL), 1, Avenue du Fresne 14760 BRETTEVILLE SUR ODON FRANCE at 43 eur for a room that sleeps 3.
- ibis Caen Porte de Bretagne, 1 Rue du Fresne, 14760 BRETTEVILLE SUR ODON, FRANCE at 52 eur for a double room

Those two hotels are 5mn away by car and 25mn away on feet. If you need a lift, we will arrange it but we need to know of that well in advance to organise it and we can guarantee this only and only if you're staying in one of those two hotels. For the rest, including picks up from the railway station, we will work on a best effort basis.

We will focus on the basics : delivering a good gaming environnement through quality of the terrain, players and food. Saturday and sunday lunch are included in the ticket, as well as a pizza for the friday night pizza party. We will try to arrange diner close to the hotel for all of those interested on saturday night with an additionnal cost. As a default, there is a McDonalds and a standard very decent Accor meat restaurant in the immediate vicinity.

We've tried to negociate internet access installation for several months but there's will be none so adjust your expectations if you had any.

How to get there :
- Ryan Air and Wizz Air Are Flying to Paris-Beauvais airport, from numerous destinations that you will
have to check for yourself ! Beauvais is a 1,5 hours drive from Rouen, and also hosting only low-cost flights. Then obviously there are Paris airports (Charles de Gaulle & Orly), approwimatly 1,5 hours drive
away from Rouen.
-Rouen has a major regional train station roughly 1 hours and 15mn away from Paris. The ride is
about 20euros without discounts, which you can get if you book earlier (booking is opening 3 month
before trip date, it’s easy to find trips at 10 eur per leg).Details and order for trains :

4/ Gaming parameters

4/a/ Roster limitations
We'll be playing with 1850pts rosters.

In order to garantee a good mix of codices representation, the ETC rules for team composition will be applied to each group of players based on the country they are from (let's not have a 50% tau turnout he). You will be asked to discuss what army you'll be bringing with your countrymen. If several players from the same country break the ETC team composition rules, their registration will be lifted until an arrangement is found. I'm prepared to consider exceptions but mostly based on the amount of players from the same country.

In terms of Codex list, its certain that we'll use official codices and supplements published before december 2013. Dataslates and all the crap I'm really not sure, but I'll wait january to see what the rest of the world thinks and where the ETC captains council is headed. New nids will be in for sure if they are published in january though.

4/b/ Terrain will be pre-set - expect something similar to the terrain setup in ETC Montreux and Novi-Sad.

4/c/ Scenari are still WIP and will be published later.
Things will be close to what you've seen at ETC 2013 -except with 7 distinct scenari, and I will most certainly include the following components into the mix :
-Table Quarters (as in Nova 2013)
Each of the table’s 4 Table Quarters can be captured and contested. They are captured with Control Points, and contested by combining Control Points and Contest Points. A player only controls a Quarter if his Control Points exceed the combined Control and Contest Points of his opponent within that quarter. The player who controls the most Quarters wins this Goal.
Control Points: Add up the remaining Points Value of each player’s Scoring and Denial Units (Page 123, 40k 6th edition Rulebook) within a given Quarter.
Contest Points: Add up the remaining Points Value of each player’s non-Scoring, non-Denial units within a given Quarter.
If a unit straddles multiple quarters, consider it to be in the Quarter containing the majority of the unit. If the unit is only a single model and straddles multiple quarters, or if the unit is evenly distributed across multiple quarters, randomize between the relevant Quarters at the end of the game.
-Relic modified : it also counts as controlling / controlling an objective
-The nemesis : the unit who achieves 1st Blood is worth 1 mission point
