I didn't get to make it in the end, but having just become a father my mind and priorities were elsewhere.
From what I heard it was a well-organized, well-coordinated event with fun prices and loads of good battles.
I’m looking forward to taking another swing at it next year!

Thanks for the great tournament. 3 games with nice "enemies".
And thank you very much for the high table. It was a pleasure to play at this high table :-)

We will come back!

Hi Guys,

First I want to thank you all: I really had a great time at the tourney!

However, there were some problems that were... Expected?

The time is obviously something you guys don't have a big fault in, it seems to be the problem all over the world these days according to what you hear on the net. The Timer was a great idea to help on that, so you guys certainly did your best. I think that the community in general will have it figured out by next year, so that's hopefully just a temporal problem.
But then again, it was a bit hard condem Tom to a less interesting game simply because I wasn't playing ultra fast, or to not be able to 'socialise' with other people between my games, simply because I needed to finish my battles.

And then, well, the missions. Maarten looked like he really put some time in them, but still, there were some flaws. Mainly the way the points were assigned in the missions: it was very hard to get the primaries, who (with the exception of mission 2) weren't always as rewarding as the easy to grab secondaries.
The flags were a nice idea, although some details could've made them a bit easier to use. E.g. making them relics and then only having to drop them to the centre of the board (because getting that flag to the other side was very hard unless you were playing fast units like warriors in venoms or such). So again, I won the game simply by sniping of Ahriman. Oh and... Why no linebreaker? I guess that's because the flag was supposed to go there, but again, making sure the missions are more balanced out on points could go a long way towards a better game.
Maybe something like: getting the flag (relic) to the centre of the board: 6, holding it:3, capturing the enemies:4, and then all secondaries for 1 pt each.
Mission 2... Well, I didn't actually see the reason to change the deployment. Sure, there were gunlines, including my own army, but that's just how the edition works. It's indeed not fair, but so is say 'First Blood'. But overall, that was a nice idea... Maybe making the enemy objectives be worth more points to force gunlines out of their defence lines.
Mission 3. The warlord was to much of a focus in the this mission, and when you could keep him safe for long enough, you basically won with a margin of 15. Having a small, easy to hide and drop HQ in a flyer just won me this mission in a rather unfair way.
The warlord should just not be more important than the objectives I found... Maybe letting the players deploy multiple objectives (4?), worth 3 each, then 1 for all secondaries, with an additional 2 if your warlord is one of your linebreaker units?

But then again, I think some work went into those missions, so me sitting here at the end going 'Well, in Hindsight..." might not be as fair.

Overall: had a blast and will off course be back next year

ps: Thanks for giving out all those prices... That way some less awesome players like me still can go home with a nice metal terminator!

hi

like most of us allready said:
adjusting the missions and more playtime would make this tournament even better.
i agree with the LOSblocking terrain issue.
please never change missions (deployment) during the tournament.
still i had a good time, thanks to my opponents and the organisers!

Nice tournament, as said by many, the missions could use quite a bit of work.
The basic idea's where fun and different, but not using codex points values as a modifier I feel is a miss. You should get some points for stomping 80% of an enemy army and/or keeping your own army intact.
Shame on the 2nd mission changing deployment as that bit me when my palladins could not keep those sneaky nids from breaking through a side. Try not to change things like that in future tournaments, some people prepare their lists based on the rulespack (like me) so changing it on the day itself can be annoying.
Thanks to my opponents, I had nice games! I'll be returning next time again, well worth the drive from Holland.
Positive points where the tables and terrain, there was plenty of it and it was beautiful as well.
Again, try to follow your own rulespack as most tables did not follow the layout you had in the rulespack. Also, I know themed tables look better, but for gameplay balance and fairness across tables mixing them for more equal tables is a better idea.

All in all a very positive tournament experience, keep up the good work!

A GREAT tournament. I went both days and loved both tourneys.
Food was great (better then last year's Pasta).

I loved the missions, they're a nice switch from the rulebook missions. Only the 3th one may need some tweaking, as killing the Warlord IS already a secondary objective in the rulebook (it was a great mission last year as there was no 'slay the warlord').
Not that I don't like it, it's just not TOO different from the BRB.

Anyway, thanks to Team Connectr for another great tourney, and I'll be seeing you guys next year!!!!

Er valt maar 1 ding te zeggen he: bedankt wederom voor een fijne dag.

The Fries and Curry Sausages: make sure they're fully baked next time please. Rush hour is a bitch, but still ... :)

Good fun this tournament but already mentioned that the scenarios make for pretty much non-games sometimes, which is a pity as we all come for a healthy dose of fun and excitement, and none can be had in those. At least every mission should be somewhat equally feasible for each army. If not in primary then in secondary objectives. In my case for the third one for instance, when you only play 4 turns, your opponent reserves his warlord the whole game (that you need to slay in order to achieve points) who then comes in bottom of 4th to score his points while you never even had the chance to be in the game, it makes for a somewhat negative playing experience (well played from the opponent though, can't fault him for playing the system). I can throw dice for no purpose at home just as well though :)

Some more alotted time to finish rounds would be beneficial as a whole I think. Lots of players still struggle to complete their game, especially on this big a playing field.

Hige improvement on terrain already! Keep up the good work.

A very well organized tournament. The only thing missing from the rulespack was a victory point rewoard for the amount of points you destroyed of your opponent. Know it is possible to destroy 1700 points of the opponent and yet he can massacre you completely due to the fact that he claims all the mission objectives, while his army is in complete ruin.

Great event. Nice to see so much players in one tournament. Missions need some work, especially the first one. Maybe give points for holding your own and preventing your opponent to hold his? That would have been more feasible for most armies. I liked the time remaining presentation but I feel 6th at 1850 needs more time to play the game to its conclusion. I heard several gamers complain that time ran out before they could make their final moves and/or their opponent had a benefit when time ran out. A 40k game should run between 5 and 7 rounds. If the rulespack states that you only need to get beyond turn 3, you already get the idea that time will not be sufficient. But I had a great time nonetheless!

Many Thanks for that good tournament, it was a pleasure to see so much players again. Only not enough time in the first party the starting in the morning is always a little bite difficult for the rest perfect. Sorry but I forgot the first mission is for me not egual to everybody and some army have no chance to do it. So please change next year.

Hey guys i had a lot of fun, thanks for organising the tournament again. One minor thing i heard talked about throughout the day as well: the rulespack contained a drawing of what all tables would supposedly be like. The key factor on this was probably the big line of sight blocker in the middle of the board. Almost none of the tables out there had the set-up that was said to be what we could expect. I don't mind random tables, it's what most of us are used to on tournaments, but then maybe don't put it in the rulespack, eh ;)
