I think the strictness on painting and such was really high in the rules pack, and there were people playing partly unpainted armies.

Some of the tables were really terrible based on stability up to points where there was even games played on the floor.

There were also some French teams where some of the player did not at all speak English. These gave some really bad experiences for some opponent's

No proper painting judgement. Our team played several opponents with unpainted models. Even cartboardbases without a miniature have been seen.

My respect for the organization of the Tournament. It was a good tournament and for me a good start to get back @ fantasy gaming.

Only downside was the first day playing without dinner. 9 o clock is too late. perhaps schedule dinner in between.

Cheers Coethil

Compliments for the organisation but a few points for improvement:
- the tables were unstable and was sometimes uncomfortable to play
- there was not enough space between the tables and chairs and walkning isle
- the temperature was too warm
- 3 games on 1 day is too much, especially because there was no real food before the third game on day one. Advice is to either have some warm food before the game or have ETC style 2 games on 1 day.
- Overall it was a good tournament with great fun, thank you for organising.

+A good return to the world of this fantastic medieval games :)
+Great opponent, great atmosphère.
-Prices: A lot of prices, but may be not enough miniatures?
-For the tables :not enough space on them and between and some one is unsteble (dangereous for the players and his army)

Thanks to my team Brothers Fanatics
Thanks to Hadrien and all the team Crew (I was not hundry or thirsty ^^)
bad day for the painted price, I would do better next time!!

See you soon for the next edition

Overall, a very positive experience. The TO has proven time and again that he can run some of the best events in the BENELUX region. We all had a blast, the atmosphere was great and the games were fun and challenging at the same time.
The food truck for lunch was a great idea, and pairing up with a local brewer to have a taste of his beers was also very welcome!

To be constructive, here are some points of criticism and ideas:

- The tables: I understand that there were unforeseen events that led to the rickety tables. Compared to the sturdy solutions of the previous Belgian Mercenaries tournaments, this was disappointing (but of course out of TO's hands - the venue owners dropped the ball there).

- The space/lighting: I don't mind playing in a cramped area, and I never felt like I was missing space. However, visitors/spectators would probably have a hard time navigating around the tables. I had the misfortune of playing three times in poorly lit areas, it can be very tiring and detracts from the feel of the game (you cannot see your opponent's beautifully painted army if there's not sufficient light!). As discussed during the event, keeping the current venue hall would require in my opinion a drop in participants. I can see 40 people playing comfortably in the hall, but 70 was clearly pushing it.

- Schedule: Something to consider for the next one would be having the food truck/ long pause on the first day. We're there for the entire day and the majority of players are staying the night, and would mean that the second day can be shorter and people can potentially hit the road and get home earlier. So there's two ways to do this:
a) have the hot meal lunch on Saturday (no stress, we can play slightly longer if it drags on)
b) have a hot meal on Saturday evening, it would help reinforce the community; games are done, and people can wind down, drink a couple of beers and chat. (this one would require different logistics, but I'm just throwing it out there because I know that several tournaments in the US opt for something like that, sometimes accompanied by board game night)

- The prizes: Excellent prize support. To avoid problems/comments such as the one from our Netherlander friend in comment #3, I would suggest numbering the prize lots (just a piece of paper with the numbers 1,2,3 on them) so that people don't get the impression that they missed out on their prize (for those interested, the prizes were "fixed" for each podium spot, with the top team getting the most goodies of course!).

- Painting: While I played against 5 fully painted armies (3 of which at a very high standard), there were several unpainted armies in the mix. I think that going forward -and given how active the community is- imposing a "4 colours/based " rule wouldn't be a bad idea.
Regarding the painting competition, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an army display at some point, with the 5 (?)best painted armies. Sometimes we get caught up in our games and don't have time to wander around and check out the cool hobby stuff.

Again, two thumbs up for the event and a big thank you to the organiser! We will be definitely back next year!

Hi Pascal,

(+) great atmosphere. Good TO. Great goodies and prizes. Keep it UP!
(-) tables : unsteble/uneven, not enough space on them and between. To try improve next Time.
Drinks : slightly expensive compared to the usual 1€/can

Had a blast!

Nice tournaments, strong opponents, and funny battles all week-end long !

A big up to the TO who did great for this second manifestation, and especially to the crew that first meeting was great and it will be a pleasure to come back to Liège soon !

#3Reinier

Very strange that on Sunday morning at 8:45 when the battle should have started, almost no team where at the venue. No penalties were given and almost no extra time.

Strong advice, if there are multiple prices, let the 1st place choose first, 2nd place second etc. Now a price was given in your order. Please let the players choose.

Comment of the organizer(s):
Hi Reinier,

Thank you for the constructive feedback, we're always looking for improvement.

However, we hope you had still a nice weekend with us.

Best,

Hadrien, for the TOs
